Taiyo is a uniform variety that is recommended for cut flowers. It looked fabulous in our garden with Amaranth 'Hopi Red Dye'. Taiyo comes from Japan, where the name means "Sun". Mongolian Giant sunflower has the largest edible seeds of any variety we've ever grown. It also has the largest flower heads, measuring 12-18" across. Our plants were so top-heavy they had to be propped up near the end of the season to keep them from blowing over. The seedheads mature in 90-100 days. Height 10-14', spacing 24".
