Echinacea pallida has narrow, drooping petals surrounding a raised central cone. This tall, graceful perennial looks terrific in the wildflower garden or the middle of the border. The pale mauve flowers combine well with other colors. In my garden, I grow it with Centranthus ruber 'Coccineus'.
Echinacea pallida is great for attracting wildlife. Birds enjoy eating the seeds, and the flowers attract butterflies and many different beneficial insects.
Echinacea pallida is a host plant for Silvery Checkerspot butterfly larvae. Also known as Pale Coneflower. Deer resistant. Hardy in zones 3-9.

Sowing Echinacea pallida Seeds
Soak echinacea seeds overnight. Start indoors 8 weeks before the last frost date. Sow 1/8" deep. Full sun to part shade.
