HomeLong Green Improved cucumber is my personal favorite. It is tender and delicious with a mild old-fashioned flavor and fine texture. It makes a wonderful slicer, but it can also be used for pickling. The dark green fruits are 10-12" long and 2-3" wide. No bitterness.
This heirloom cucumber was introduced in 1842, and it quickly became the most popular variety on the market.
Sowing Long Green Improved Cucumber Seeds
Sow outdoors after the last frost date, 1/2" deep. Or start indoors 3 weeks early. Space 2' apart in rows. Or grow 3 plants per hill. Space hills 4-6' apart. Full sun.
