Long Green Improved cucumber is my personal favorite. It is tender and delicious with a mild old-fashioned flavor and fine texture. It makes a wonderful slicer, but it can also be used for pickling. The dark green fruits are 10-12" long and 2-3" wide. No bitterness. This heirloom cucumber was introduced in 1842, and it quickly became the most popular variety on the market.
Boston Pickling is a fantastic dual-purpose cucumber - great for both pickling and fresh eating. It is rarely bitter, even in hot weather. The steady production kept us supplied with cucumbers through the summer and into fall.
American heirloom, 1880.

Silver Slicer is the juiciest cucumber I've ever eaten. It is so refreshing in the heat of summer! The mild flavor is never bitter. It has a crisp texture that will give your sandwich or salad a bit of crunch. The 5-6" fruits have a creamy white skin with bumps. The plants are resistant to powdery mildew for prolonged harvest into the fall. Very productive. Bred at Cornell University.

Dragon Egg cucumber is aptly named with pearly-white, egg-shaped fruits that are fantastic for slicing. The mild flavor rarely has any bitterness. Like the lemon cucumber, it is too soft for pickling. Enjoy it fresh.
