HomeWow! What a color. Zinnia 'Red Cap' has small, pom-pom style flowers in a stunning shade of fire-engine red. The relatively short, bushy plants produce loads of blooms from midsummer to frost.
Red Cap zinnia is a rare variety from Russia. As far as I can tell, it has disappeared from commerce, but I've kept it going by saving seeds for many years. My original seeds came from Seed Savers Exchange.
Zinnia 'Red Cap' is especially nice in warm color schemes. I like to plant it with white flowers to cool it off. It looks good with Cleome 'Helen Campbell', Cosmos 'Dwarf White' and Nicotiana alata.
