HomeBlushed Butter Oak lettuce has green, oak-shaped leaves with a pinkish-red blush. The blushing increases as the plants mature. It's very pretty, and the flavor is excellent. In a 2025 taste test, it beat all the other lettuces we grew.
This cold-hardy selection was developed by Frank Morton of Wild Garden Seed.
Open-pollinated.
Sowing Blushed Butter Oak Lettuce Seeds
Sow lettuce seeds outdoors in early spring. Sow on the surface in very shallow furrows, or cover lightly with soil. Thin to 8" apart. Full sun to part shade.
