German chamomile has small, daisy-like flowers from summer to fall. It makes a nice filler in the cottage garden or herb garden. It was traditionally planted along pathways where the sweet fragrance could be enjoyed up close.
Chamomile tea helps to reduce stress and promote restful sleep. It contains anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and anti-cancer compounds. It's a good digestive aid, and it can ease muscle cramps. Click here for more information.
German chamomile is native to Europe, Africa and Asia. It's a self-sowing annual that acts like a biennial in my zone 5 garden. It blooms in May, and it repeat blooms if cut back after the first flush is over. Easy to grow. Drought tolerant. Deer resistant.
