Asclepias tuberosa is a native perennial with bright orange flowers that bloom in mid summer, attracting hummingbirds, native bees and butterflies. It's also a host plant for Monarch, Queen, and Gray Hairstreak butterfly larvae.
Asclepias tuberosa is a long-lived, drought-tolerant perennial once it is established, but it doesn't like to be transplanted. It prefers well-drained soil in full sun.
Also known as Butterfly Weed, Pleurisy Root and Butterfly Milkweed. Deer resistant. Hardy in zones 4-10.
